Do I need a license?

Projekktor is released under Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 2.0 Germany which means that any individual can use the player where, how often and how ever he or she wants as long as it is not within a commercial environment.

You need at least a PRO license whenever you are using the player in a commercial way. "Commercial use" includes but is not limited to:

• Sites or products with embedded advertisements.
• Sites or products with the primary purpose to promote or represent a commercial product, commercial service or a company.
• Sites or products where endusers have to pay to use it.
• Products sold through freelancing or consulting to third parties.
• Any kind of content management system (CMS) packages which are not distributed in minimum under the same conditions as the player itself.
• Commercial or profit orientated webTV projects.
• Self-promotional freelancer profiles or portfolios (but you do not need a license for: prove of concepts, prototypes or general demos).
• Any governmental use.

If none of the definitions above fit your project or idea in mind you are allowed to use the player for free (!) and without any licensing or costs. Still unsure? Feel free to ask.

TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!

Please feel free to try the player down to its bones first. Do it! Play around with and if necessary just move it to your productive project - that´s OK. But please support the idea of fair usage and check back to this page if you feel its time to do so.

What is Projekktor PRO?

First thing first: It is exactly the same software you can download here. The mayor difference is the license agreement. Once you have bought a PRO license you are allowed to use the player in a commercial environment. Furthermore the callback informations and advertisement links (set within the timed overlays) generated by the player are unlocked so that "unregistered" is replaced by the URLs and names as intended.

As a PRO user you are allowed to use the player on as many sites as you want, generate as many video deliveries as you want and add as many advertisements as you want. There are absolutely no limits. If you do not get a PRO+ (whitelabeled) license the only "nag" left is that the copyright remarks within the player´s context menu are still intact.

How do I apply my license?

Once you have purchased your license you will get a alphanumeric personalized KEY string via email. Make sure that you have downloaded the latest release of the player. Next open your player configuration file (e.g. reel.xml) and assign the mentioned string to the "player_key" configuration variable: Done.
