On WIN platforms Safari requires Quicktime to be installed in order to play video natively.

that's what I thought, so I installed QT, but still no joy :(

Ok now have it working in Safari, but not on ipad. The reason it wasn't using the mp4 file on Safari was because I had the site password protected as it was a test site, once I removed the password protection it worked fine.
Now unsure why it isn't working on the ipad, perhaps because the safari on that doesn't have Quick Time installed? Or does it come with it pre-installed on that?
