LinearFlash Fallback not working in IE7/8 (Projekktor Core)

Hi guys,
First of all, love Projekktor!
I have one problem though: The flash fallback is not working for me on IE7 & IE8.
I've looked around here and tried almost every solution that is posted before, but to me there is no fix to be found.

Checked your site and all is fine so far.
The URL to Jarisplayer and stuff is fine.
The encoding of your MP4 however is not.
A classic, so to say.
Please check the links FedeFrede posted at http://www.projekktor.com/board/index.php?id=2345 and all is good.
=> If you wait long enough once the MP4 is completely buffered it plays fine - also in IE7 and IE8.

Hi Sascha, thanks for the quick reply. May I ask in what environment you are testing?
Even when I use the "projekktor" demo video, I get the message "Sorry, your browser does not support the media format of the requested file ().".

Well, the projekktor-intro is just 10 secs. and less than 600KB.
This is why it appears to play back instantly. It´s being downloaded in a glimpse.
Your portfolio vid is muuuuuch bigger and as such much more to pre-cache.
Since the meta-data of your vid is at its end instead of its beginning the player has to download the whole file first and that is what makes the difference.
Btw: Testedt on FF11, IE9, Chrome and Safari5

Ok, that's clear :)
But I still don't understand why even with the projekktor video the flash fallback doesnt work in IE7 and 8.
Or am I still not understanding you right?

Most likely the player can´t find the flash fallback component. Per default its assumed to be in the same directory as the content, e.g.: http://gportdev.nl/klanten/qviv/showcase/test/jarisplayer.swf

I had a problem with flash in IE7/8. Projekktor displayed a message "Sorry, your browser does not support the media format of the requested file".
I find out that was html5 shiv/shim. I removed the video tag from shiv file, and it worked (after fixing the right path to jarisplayer.swf).
Hope this helps others.

Yeah that pointed me in the right direction, thanks :) the issue was somewhere in modernizr, at the function where it tests for videosupport. The real issue was unclear to me, as debugging didnt get me far and I decided to just remove the function from modernizr and write something for detecting video myself.

Hi Gerben, any chance you could elaborate and advise on what you did to correct this? I'm also using the modernizr script and having no luck with the Flash fallback.

Hi,
same problem here.
I get the message »Sorry, your browser does not support the media format of the requested file« even if I try to load the intro example files of Projekktor.
Testing settings: Windows XP with IE 6 / IE 7 in a VirtualBox on Mac Os. Can the VirtualBox cause the problems?
